one more reason why i love blogland...

This Friday Paul and I will be celebrating a decade of marriage.
When you can start using words in place of numbers, that's a long long time!
We splurged on our trip to Maine to celebrate "us".
That was our gift to eachother.
But I really wanted to do something else for him.
Last Christmas a friend of mine received a decoupage painting from her step mom.
It was amazing.
And as soon as I saw it, I thought to myself, "Naomi could do that. That looks right up her alley."
Another friend saw the painting as well and said she'd love one, so I emailed Naomi to see if she'd be interested in doing one.
And she was.
It got put on the backburner for my friend who requested it, so I asked Naomi if she'd do one for me.
And she agreed.

Now if think Naomi is fairly incredible.
Actually, I think she is one of the most talented artists I have ever only know through the blog world! :)
And although I don't have a talented art bone in my body, we have found over the years we have quite a bit in common.
This is the best part of the blog world. You get to meet these incredible people that you would have never known existed.
I think we've been following eachothers blogs for quite some time and email now and then, too.
Fly Lady.
Non-runners running.
Water.
Sons who love baseball.
Daughters who love art and hate the alphabet.
Politics....oh wait, maybe no politics...
These are just a few of the things we have in common.
She has said before that we live parallel lives.
(Although she watches The Hills and I watch Grey's, but that's ok, I still like her)
So I think she was kind of excited to put her artsy spin on our little family.
And man did she deliver.

She just happened to finish this "little" project a few days before Paul was going to be heading to Denver and staying just a few miles from her house.
So I sent him over there to pick up his anniversary present.
He swears he didn't peek.
(I SO would have peeked!)
He carried this 4ftx2ft baby through security in the Denver airport and THOUGHT he had gate checked it all the way through to Cedar Rapids.
But when he got off the plane in Chicago, he found that the painting was not there.
It was at the baggage claim.
And he only had 10 minutes to get to his next flight.
I was a wee bit panicked to say the least.
But we got it safely home tonight and
it
is
incredible.
I can't tell you how much I love this and how perfectly it represents our family.
She nailed it on the head.
Perfect.
THANK YOU NAOMI!!!!!!
And I'm sorry, but we pushed her over the edge and she is no longer doing these family portraits.
Sorry.
But check this out....
