I have run up and down the stairs at a bare mininum of 257 times today.
Of course I chose today as baking day.
And since we had moved everything out of our fridge into the basement fridge, I got a ton of exercise.
So tonight I told Paul he needed to fix it. Or move it. Or something.
Apparently he didn't find it near as urgent as I did. If he needed something, he just sent one of us down to get it.
Anyway...back to the hilarious part. If you remember from my previous email, I stated, "There was some red flickering and dripping water. Each time the water dripped it landed on something hot and sizzled. Seriously sizzled."
So Paul opened up the back panel and looked at it. He said everything looked fine. Weird.
He went on to do what we should have done yesterday. He googled "GE fridge, dripping and sizzling". (don't you just love google!!)
This is what he found...
Q. What is the dripping noise behind my refrigerator?
A. ....This also means that they build up more moisture between defrost cycles and makes it more likely you will hear the dripping water. It is water running in to the evaporation pan under the unit. And don't worry if you hear a "sizzling" in the freezer at the same time or see the heater working (glowing) in there. It is fine. And if you look in your owner's manual, your concern is so common they often address it under "normal sounds" in the manual.
Ha. We are smart. So happy we were not as near to death as we originally thought.
Good stuff. Good stuff.
