30 hours of PURE bliss...

Ok...maybe not pure bliss.
That title was for Jody.
She says I see the world through rose-colored glasses.
Whatever.

We had a rough start.
Made the 2 hour trek to Starved Rock.
Listened to Ayla whine and cry the last hour.
Backed into our campsite.
Hopped out and started pulling out the food...everyone was starving.
Paul ran to the restroom.
Upon his return, I hear him "yelp" my name.
I quickly turn around to see him with his hands on his head.
"CASSIE! We forgot the KEYS!"
Ummmm....WHAT?

Yes, our maiden voyage in the pop-up and
WE FORGOT THE KEYS.
Kinda hard to look at that through rose-colored glasses.
I quietly continue making the kids' sandwiches between the
"What are we going to do's?" and phonecalls.

Turns out we can pop the camper up and get it all set up without the key.
We just can't drop down the step.
So you kind of have to be a good hurdler to make it work.
(too bad you weren't there, becky!)
We placed the cooler in front of the "hurdle" and that helped.
But it was a continual problem.

We also couldn't get to the power.
So we couldn't "hook up".
No heat.
Cold cold cold night.
Be we had lots of blankets and clothes.
So we survived.
And considering Ayla had NO NAPS, we had a great time.
The weather during the daylight hours was perfect.
Yummy food.
No TV, computer and 2 dead cell phones. :)
More pics to come....but not too many.
Ayla was a handful and I couldn't watch her very well from behind the camera.
Only one bloody knee and one bruised forehead.
And we learned a great lesson...never forget the keys.

Ugh! Sounds like you had fun anyway!

One time we were leaving to go camping and our camper tire blew out on Hwy 38. We got it fixed (after an hour) & went again. Then the OTHER tire blew out at the exact same spot on 38. We took it as a sign, went home, slept, and started early the next morning. Ahhhh...the joys of camping! :)
