read these this morning and they struck me.
the following reminded me of what i was trying to say about loving well and feeling joy and sorrow with others. i'm just not nearly as eloquent...
"Community is a fellowship of people who do not hide their joys and sorrows, but make them visible to each other in a gesture of hope. Life is full of gains and losses, joys and sorrows, ups and downs--- but we do not have to live it alone" Nouwen from Can You Drink this Cup. p 57
and david platt tweeted this one this morning...
"Jesus' megastrategy: make disciples. Love, lead, & lay down your life for people. This is how the Kingdom will advance."
just something to roll around in my head this morning as we enter into our first day of summer. we are having a family (well, partial family...paul's working) meeting this morning. setting up some rules for the summer. building our summer calendar. talking about how to be so very intentional about this short couple of months. we are all going to have to make some adjustments. i'd like our transition period not to last a full month.
big plans!
ready to take on the day.
oh...and this is random and funny and just shows where my brain is lately. i've been a bit distracted. jody emailed me this photo the other day and said, "this looks gross. and you look 'unconcerned'." right. i do. because i totally was. mud is one of the last things on my mind. and yes...it's just mud. :)
happy tuesday!

Oh, that's painful to look at. Reminds me of the times here that it wasn't mud! (Only the child was much bigger. And more boyish.)
